A Trailblazing Naval Officer*Commander Gauri Mishra served in the Indian Navy with distinction, handling critical assignments in contract negotiations, logistics, and defense strategy. A graduate of the first batch of the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, she broke multiple glass ceilings and emerged as one of the Navy’s most admired women leaders.
She has the rare honor of leading the Indian Navy contingent twice at the Republic Day Parade, and served in the CNS Secretariat as Aide-de-Camp to the Chief of Naval Staff, representing India in key diplomatic events. She was also the first lady defense representative to Australia, Maldives, USA, and Myanmar. For her exemplary service, she was awarded a Chief of Naval Staff Commendation.

She has contributed to defense diplomacy, bilateral military engagements, and international policy formulation. Gauri is a world record-holding cyclist, having completed multiple endurance rides with her son Rian — a cycling prodigy and record holder himself. Their mother-son duo has completed over 7500 km in rides, with global recognition from platforms like UCI, Audax Club Parisien, and the Fit India Movement. Gauri herself has won two world records, and recently represented India in the UCI World Masters Track Cycling Championship in the UK and World Masters Games 2025 in Taipei, winning two Gold and one Silver for India.
*Champion for Women, Youth, and Social Justice*Cdr. Gauri is deeply involved in social development, especially in empowering underprivileged women, mentoring children in orphanages, and driving green fitness campaigns like “Pedal for Planet.” She is a UN guest speaker, elite defense panelist on national channels, and a published voice on gender equality in the armed forces — especially in the campaign for permanent commission for women in the Navy, where her advocacy contributed to historical policy change.
