Prof. Dr. M. Ramadass, Former Member of Parliament, Attends GHPU Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony Event as Chief Guest

Pondicherry | 19th October  –  The Global Human Peace University (GHPU) was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. M. Ramadass, a distinguished economist, academician, and former Member of Parliament, as the Chief Guest at the Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony held on October 19, 2024, in Pondicherry.

Prof. Ramadass, the first Ph.D. in Economics from the Union Territory of Puducherry, has an illustrious academic career spanning over four decades. He served as the first Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Pondicherry Central University when it was established in 1985. Throughout his career, he has successfully guided 18 Ph.D. scholars and held various prestigious academic positions including Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the School of Management and Law, Registrar, and Director of the Academic Staff College.

He was instrumental in pioneering the first Community College of India, under Pondicherry University, and served as the Coordinator for IGNOU, New Delhi. Beyond academics, he served as a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of Puducherry through numerous projects and welfare schemes.

During his special address at the event, Prof. Ramadass inspired the audience with insights on the role of education, policy, and ethical governance in shaping a peaceful society. His presence and words added immense value to the occasion, aligning perfectly with GHPU’s mission of promoting global peace through education and social responsibility.
